I caught this one while we were in camp in I just liked it.... don't know why.. just do. I have a lot of long lenses for sports but hadn't thought of doing people not playing sports much until I started using them for stuff like this... and so far I like the look a lot better then what I had been getting before - and now want to do more. Anything you can do to help me improve would be appreciated. this has been converted from raw and then reduced - that's about it. thanks for your help.

Hello,
Generally I think its a nice shot. Good handle on the DOF there.
It might be nicer to have a bit more room abover her head tho.
Keep goin :-)

MattL - thanks for ttaking the time for he comment... yeah - I wish I hadn't taken the shot so tight but it was a fleeting moment type thing. I am shooting more and more in portrait mode by default.
I am really surprised no one else had anything else to say. I know there are plenty of flaws on all kinds of levels. I appreciate the politeness, but I have pretty tough skin. I want to be able to take great candids - and am very slowly working in that direction. I have an event I am shooting this weekend so if there are lessons that can be learned - I would love to hear them.

I like the candidness(if that is a word lol) of this shot!

If this were a picture that I had taken the only think I could see myself wanting to improve on would be to turn the cameral sideways and shoot it portrait.
Nice job. The bokeh is awesome.

Exactly what I was thinking. Maybe then there would have been more room at the top. Love the Bokeh as well.

Her is the same girl with her boy friend... I was smart enough to get the camera in the right orientation this time....

Much better, IMHO.
I like how the girl is aware of the camera but the boy is in what appears to be deep thought.
Her white shirt appears to be a tad overexposed, but their faces look just right to me.
Im being picky now, but get the guy to move in a tad closer so hes more in frame, and get the girl to loose the bottle cap in her hand and you've got a great shot :-)'
Hope this helps.

why did i think she was blind in that second shot?
i think because of the way she's looking dead ahead, and he looks like he's guiding her.
i'm so jealous of you people that have cameras with apeture and depth of field that can be adjusted, the amazment of my (now known to call) 'p&s' is starting to wear thin, as cars i shoot always look long and weird, and people i shoot always have a sharp background and they don't stand out enough.
anyway, enough thread stealing, nice shot :D
