I now have my flash gun and the offshoe cable working correctly at last.
Next weekend I'm taking some shots of a christening in France, My usual set up on an EOS5 is as follows
1) I have a bracket on the camera and flash to get the flash along side the camera
2) off shoe cable
3) flash in TTL
4) Av on the EOS5
ususally get some very good results

NOW as i'm new to combination on Pro1
My intention is to do the same
1) I have a bracket on the camera and flash to get the flash along side the camera
2) off shoe cable
3) flash in E-TTL
4) Av on the Pro1

Is this the best method - or do you have other suggestions???

I also would like to know how manual mode works.
On the Flash gun I do not seem to get any flsh distance info displayed, I have modified the falsh output on the camera to full - but not sure what to do in manual and theres very little info in the pro1 manual

As you are using an EX speedight, you shouldn't need to do anything different then with your EOS film camera. Select whichever metering(eval,cw)/mode(P,Tv, Av, M) you want for the camera and use the flash in ETTL or use Manual. In Manual Flash mode, the LCD of the flash will give you a distance guide for the ISO and F stop set on the camera. I refer to set FEC on the flash rather then the camera.

Thanks for the info - i had hoped that was the situation
In Manual Flash mode, the LCD of the flash will give you a distance guide for the ISO and F stop set on the camera.
does not seem to give any info other than zoom setting

Are you using the Off The Shoe Cord 2? That's the one you need if you are using a different one.
