Was playing around with 580ex II HSS outdoors. I like it but maybe I should brighten it up a bit ? ? ?

General CC welcome
Thanks, Peter.

the dark areas dont bug me. maybe just bring up the highlights (it looks like you have some room) for more contrast and it'll pop out more while keeping that shadow theme.

My humble opinion:

I like dark. :D

The thing that bothers me is my eye keeps straying to the grass on the right, and then it's not in focus. I'm drawn away from the frog and it's spawn...

It's bordering on too dark for my taste, but I think it is ok....and I do like the original. I would personally clone out the green dot furthest to left as it is a bit distracting...keeps pulling my eye over to it.

I just calibrated my monitor, and I definitely prefer the "darker" version. Although the prints do come out darker than the screen... The 2nd version looks slightly unnatural, as if hit with a direct flash. Maybe something in between would work, esp. if you bring up the frog but go easy on the grass ?

Thats a great shot as is. I think I might spend a little time cloning out the white dot highlights on the eggs but even if you didn't, it is still a fine image.

Same 4 me, the edit does some thing to the frogs texture i don't like,it could just be me liking dark.

Thanks for all the comments and tips. It prints quite well on A4. Might try bigger today.

According to the exif I was 2.1m away (never knew that info was there :D)

Great shot, the frog's eye really pops! Looks very protective of the eggs too =D
