Not that I am unhappy with the speed of my CF cards in my 20D but I did a read test on my new pc. I know about Rob Galbraiths CF database but this deals with write speeds in the camera and thats fine but I wanted to know the read speed when copying to my pc.

So I put my 5 CF cards through a speedtest with the program HD Tach. The result was a bit surprising.

Lexar Proffesional WA 1 GB 3.6 MB/s
Hitachi 2 GB Microdrive 3.0 MB/s
SanDisk Ultra II 2 GB 2.3 MB/s
SanDisk Ultra II 1 GB 2.3 MB/s
Kingston Elite Pro II 2 GB 2.3 MB/s

Just to compare, my SanDisk Cruzer Titanium 512 MB usb key reads 16.3 MB/s !!

Card reading device is the most important link in PC. Example: my XsDrive II transfers about 3MB/s from it to PC - Nexto CF will transfer 21MB/s (in http://fhoude34.free.fr/PortableHD.htm)

Yes and thats why I also tested my usb key and as You can see from that with 16.3 MB/s its not the card reader that is slow ;-)

Hmm, that reminds me I must test my Epson P2000.
