Thanks Stan
It was a hot day, and I had lugged a bag full of lenses up to the top,and only used the one attached to the camara!
The shot is of the outer gatehouse the castle is a further 400 metres up hill.
The castle was dismantled by the King after the English civil war in 1646.(sore loser)

Hi Alan, welcome to the forum. You must be in my neck of the woods if you visit Beeston Castle!
I like the composition - the wall really leads the eye.

Hi dewmuw
I read at Beeston Castle that after the civil war they hired people from Liverpool to dismantle the castle . Got to say that they made a pritty good job of it!
Yes I am quite close to you. I live about 300 yards from this place.
A prize go's the person who can name it.

300 yards! Ack I'm not even 300 yards close to a 7-11 and you're 300 yards near a castle? Man this new world is so spread out.
I like the shot, its pretty interesting. Why was the castle dismantled after the civil war? Was it the staging point for the rebels?

Hi Chris
Yes over here you’re never far from anything.
The first shot is Beeston Castle, which is about 20 miles from where I live.
The second shot is of Mow Cop castle, a building, which is close to my house, it’s not really a castle, but something built 250 years ago to resemble a castle.
Beeston castle was a stronghold of the rebels and partly dismantled by order of the King, in, I think, 1637.
The two castles face each other on two opposing hills about 30 miles apart in the County of Cheshire, in the NorthWest of the UK.
