Was hoping someone could answer this quesiton... I just bought an ADATA 16gb 533x Compact Flash card and when I tried the video with it on my 7D the playback on my computer shows alot of artifacts, when i switch back to my old generic brand of 140x memory the video playback is just fine. I'm assuming this means my new memory is somehow defective or is it possible that its something else? (picture files seem fine)

The video playback from the old card is also using 7D video? What happens if you copy the video files to your hard drive and then play them back? Is your card reader UDMA?

i did video yesterday with both cards, i transferred both through the usb cable (is this a bad idea?) and playback on windows media players, the new card (ADATA) was giving me 'artifacts' like this

and my old card was giving me a clear video... now i tested again this morning and now both cards are doing the same thing... so maybe its not the card? but then why was the playback on the old card smooth yesterday i cant quite understand.

You mean playing back from the camera via a direct USB connection? Yo don't have a separate card reader? Then get one. Card readers are generally faster than camera-computer USB connections are.

yes i plug in the usb to the camera, download the files to my computer then open it from the saved location. as for getting a card reader, if the only advantage is speed then its not really a priority for me as i'd rather have to wait a little bit longer to download my files then have to remove the cf card from the camera.
I downloaded quick time and played the video files on that program and they are running just fine, so i guess for some reason windows media players has a hard time with these video files.
