Hopefully these pictures fall into the category of the Sports section.

I took this yesturday and was qutie pleased with the results, as it was my first 'sporting' event. The last one I am not certain whether I like the cropping or not as I thought the time at the top added interest but the bars at the bottom were too distracting. These were taken with my Rebel XT, and a 1986 Canon 20-210mm lens. Due to the distance these shots were taken, some of them needed heavy cropping unfortunately. Hopefully someone can give me some advice on how I can 'revive' this shots in photoshop (new at that as well), and possibly borders?

Thanks :D Hope you enjoy.

Great shots, the all seem to be just a little bit out of focus, might be me, or just from being zoomed in to much when cropped. I am not sure. But other than that great photos, I like 5 and 8 the best

Thanks for the reply, and I believe more of teh problem was that I was so far away, and since I was using the 210mm at the time, any shake would have caused a slight 'blur' and since it is an old lens, there wasn't any antishake. The cropping probably made it worse as well. Hopefully next time I have the chance to shoot these, I will either A.) Have a better lens. or B) buy better seats:lol:

Once again, thank you very much, and yes, number 5 is probably my fave as well, along with teh barrel racing.

Any more replies would be much appreciated. :D

love the quarterhorse going around the bend in the figure 8 -- been there, can relate.

try a monopod. also, don't know what your settings were, but higher ISO always is better than shake'n'blur (your shake not so bad, really).

Once again. thanks for the advice.
I had the option to bring my tripod, but I was on the end of the row, and with al those people comign in and out with their drinks, I didn't want the camera getting soaked. Perhaps I will bring it's own umbrella next time. ;)

Oy, if only I remembered to up the ISO a little bit more and a little earlier. At the very end I did, but not enough. Eventually, I will get the hang of this.

Thanks :D
