seems we had a lot of local canon shooters out there this weekend. I live pretty close so i went up to watch and try to get some pics. I was denied a press pass about a month ago since i dont work for anyone and they said they had the event covered. But said i can bring in any kind of camera and shoot from any general area outside of the track (which means heavy cropping for me :)). Anyway here are a few of my pics from the stands and others areas i roamed around in. Ill get the rest up through out the week.

i see theres no love for it here.....or there was too much coverage of the event. Anyway i PS'd this (obviously) and thought it came out kinda neat and didnt want to start a new thread for this one pic. What do you guys think of this?

Cool shots. Don't feel too bad about not getting a media pass. From what I've been told the lady that was there was a royal pain on Sunday.

I too shot from out side of the fence and most of my shots were with my 200 f/2.8L. The realy far stuff coming down the hill were with my 300 f/4L.

well in that case i dont feel bad, not that i did before. Its what happens when your just a hobbyist. i just wish i had a 300mm or better lens for a lot of the stuff as it was not laid out very nice for the fans to get really good pics.

I am guessing you didn't meet the pompous asshat series photographer, then did you? I have only met one other guy who acts like he does, and in both cases, their stuff isn't that over the moon.

They get by on having an exclusitivity deal with the sanctioning body.

Problem is the customers suffer in these cases IMO

no i did not, though i was looking for people shooting and seen a lot of L series lenes flyin around. I know what you mean about those kinda people. They forget they started doing this for the love of wanting to get better and try new things. Not take mediocre photos and pass them off to the customers who dont really know a ok shot to a killer shot. I guess i was better off BSing with people in the stands and walking around most of the day.
