Just got home from vacation and could not wait to attempt the HDR thing. I dont know what i did wrong but i am getting dots all over the rock in front of me i am useing photomatix pro. Shot the photos in raw and coverted to jpeg with Canon DPP before i used the HDR software. Did i do this the right way?Any help would be great. Thanks for reading

Try using the actual RAW files rather then jpeg conversions and have play with the tone mapper.

Convert your raw files first to tif's, that way you maintain 16 bit files. Then load into Photomatix. If you have a lot of grain it may be due to underexposed files. Not knowing how many images you have to work with or if the exposures are dark. You may not have the full tonal range you need to tone map this properly and therefore you are getting grain due to not covering the tonal range and leaving out detail.
