I have been saving up for about a year now and I finally have enough cash to buy something nice. But I am very undecided, I currently have the Rebel XSi (450D) nifty fifty, 18-55 IS and 55-250mm IS. I am torn between getting a lens or a nice flash gun with pocket wizards. I am leaning toward the flash gun and pocket wizard because I don't know which lens to get. Maybe 50-200 f4L? Give me your input please. I enjoy shooting animals, cars...well just about anything I can point my camera at.

Thanks
Chonh :D

Flash was my second purchase (my basic zoom lens being the first). No regrets. Flash opens up a whole new world! :)

i think a flash is a better option especially if you think you'll enjoy playing with light and opening up some more creative possibilities.

You have decent lenses (before anyone comments - they aren't the best but they are decent and used properly will yield decent results.

Therefore I would suggest the flash. It opens up a new world of lighting choices.

In my opinion, a flash always should come first, as a lens without light is like a day without sunshine...;)

LIGHT! As chonhzilla has shown you can get a LOT of lighting gear for under a grand! I highly suggest at least one flashgun, a lightstand with flash bracket, a shoot through umbrella (or better yet a convertible), the Strobist DVDs the Zach Arias One Light DVDs, and some foamcore for reflectors.
On ebay you should be able to get at least three or four of all the equipment listed here, and the YN-460 as opposed to 465 has built optical slave! Good luck and let us see your new gear when you get it!

you have a good range of lenses already... so yea, go with a flash. i've seen spectacular shots already before with the standard kit lenses and decent lighting... you wont regret it.

go for the Nissin 866 . you wont be disappointed and you will have a real pro flash. then you can buy the 70-200 f4 L and have a real lens. step by step :-)
