Is anyone using the D30 for weddings?

I would be very interested in suggestions on;
A) workflow (backing up files)
B) white balance settings for electronic flash
C)micro-drive verses compact flash cards.

etc.

Thanks,
Alan

I just did an entire wedding with mine. The workflow can be overwhelming for sure. I'm still working on automating printing my proofs. PS has a contact sheet builder in it, but it is very unflexible.

I used auto white balance and only had to adjust it on about 3 pics out of about 300.

Although I have not had any problems with the microdrive, I used only cf cards because I was able to download and clear my disks between the ceremony and reception.

When I cleared the cards I made 2 backups. I burned all the RAWs, JPEGs and converted TIFFS to CD twice.

I think I had to put in about 4 hours more dealing with the digital files over film but I know that will change once I get my workflow worked out. Plus all the prints are exactly the way I want, which was not the case before.

I am very happy with the results and will not look back now.

HTH,
Bobby

Personally, I wouldn't want to shoot a wedding with a D30. A D60, yeah, but a D30? Hardly.

Time to upgrade. For sure.

I assume the OP means "30D" but then again you know what they say about assuming.

Hi, Mark. You've gone back to necromancy, I see. I knew you couldn't give up old, bad habits.

Sigh.

Wow, crazy old thread.

I agree, time to upgrade. Using that old 2001 camera. :) Maybe he's using a 30D now, just moved the D's around.

We need to resurrect one of those threads where the OP still uses a...what was it? A D6000?

Forget the D6000. Get the D60. The Nikon I mean.
