I like the visual balance of the first one, but the lighting is throwing me off. At least some fill flash on the bride would have been nice. Some amount of flash, so that the bridesmaid's face isn't just pure black.
#2 looks a little crooked. Maybe raise the position of the camera 10" or so, so the bow is in the lower right third, and the crucifix in the top left third.

Practice makes... um... something I think. :) I'm still practicing too!
The other alternative in the first picture would be to darken more of the foreground people. That way they're just there for the visual balance, but no attention is drawn to them. then, if possible in pp, lighten the bride a little bit so she stands out more.
Looking forward to seeing more!

I really like the first one - although the lighting could be an issue.
