Hey guys, I just did a quick shoot with a teenager and her horse. Her dad (a friend of mine) set it up at the last min and did not tell her, so she was not really prepared. They were happy with the results and want to do it again but a bit more formal (makeup, dressup etc).

Here is a quick sample of one of the shots. I am looking for tips on shooting with a horse. I have already read up about getting the ears to stand up, not cut them off etc etc. Does anyone have any ideas or examples of poses with a horse that their owner may like?

This was shot with a 70/200 2.8 and on camera flash. I will be going to off camera flash next time for sure.

Thoughts?

Be careful with flashes; some horses spook easily.

If you're shooting her riding, you want to get one of the front legs rising. I don't have any examples to point you at, but if there are any dressage riders at the stables, they can probably show you some competition shots of themselves that will demonstrate.

Great kissing pose, BTW. For my taste, I don't like the vignetting though.
