View Full Version : Savage or Dennys White vinyl?

Hey folks,

I have decided to upgrade my old cloth backed vinyl to just vinyl as I would like to not have to "blow out" my white background to remove any "waves" in it.

I currently have a small manual roller system which works fine but since there are no poles on the sides (hangs on 10 ft wide rollers) I can't attach the cloth backed vinyl to stretch it tight. I've tried steaming and while there are no wrinkles, there are still these wave type formations which cause shadows if I don't blow em out.

Anyway, I figure a solid vinyl backdrop will elimnate this problem and am torn between the Dennys version and the Savage version. Did a bunch of googling and thread searching but no comparison between the two.

I can get the savage 10x20 version from Adorama's ebay store for 175 with 50 bucks shipping. Cheapest shipping I have been able to find. Dang thing costs over a hundred bucks to ship if you order it directly from Adorama.

Dennys is, of course, running their normal 60 percent off sale and I can get their 10x20 foot version for about 160 plus 100 bucks in shipping (maybe more, they say truck shipping is a MINIMUM of 100 so it might be a tad more). Don't mind paying a bit more if the quality is that much better (in this case at least 50 bucks or higher better).

Does anyone here have experience with either or both?
