For anybody who saw these two perform, it was a memorable performance. Yesterday in Canada, Jimmy Franklin in his jet powered Waco, and Bobby Younkin in Samson, collided with Jim Leroy in his Pitts Special. Both Jimmy and Bobby were lost in the accident. Jimmy's son Kyle (seen on the wing) was announcing the act when the accident happened.

I have to edit this. Seeing the tape it looks like they just flat hit each other almost head on. Jim's Pitts may have got some debris showered on it. Jim was very lucky. Here is the video link.

I saw this clip on TV, and it is very sad. If there's any comfort that can be drawn from such a thing, it's probably safe to assume these two gentlemen died doing the one thing they loved more than anything else. Very sad for their families.

Very saddening. Was looking forward to seeing them again in a few weeks at OshKosh. Yes, they died doing what they loved. Also, they appear to have died pretty much instantly, so there would have been little or no suffering.

May God have mercy on their souls...
