We ran across this huge patch of orange lichen on our hike in Golden Gate Canyon State Park, north west of Golden, CO. I increased the color saturation to really bring out the lichen. Canon S500.

Good shot, Harold. I'm aware of GG Canyon SP, it's on my list of possible activities while we are in the area.

Thanks, Joe and Stan. If you go in from the Golden end, the Visitors Center is on the right just after entering the Park (about 15 miles from Golden). Lots of big rainbows are waiting to be fed in the little pond by the building. Continuing north on the road for about a mile gets you to the parking lot for the Horseshoe trail. These rocks are less than a mile up the trail, on the north side.

Nice Harold! I haven't been up there in a while but it has some great hiking trails and the view from the north side of the Rockies is incredible!
