Thinking of buying a Lowepro Flipside 400AW but wonder will a Canon 40D with a Canon EF 100-400mm IS lens attached (with hood reversed) fit in the Lowepro Flipside 400AW. Also will the same combi with a Kenko 1.4X converter attached fit.

Hi,
At the top of this forum is Sticky: Camera Bags Reviewed The Complete List. Look in there and maybe you'll find the answer to your
question and then some.
Hope this helps.

I have that exact combo and you will have plenty of room left over.

I have carried that exact combo with a whole lot more in that bag and I can tell you its very comfortable and has plenty of room for a lot of gear.

Yes that combo will fit in the Flipside 400. I've even had my 50D with a 300 f2.8 IS attached (hood reversed) in my Flipside 400. In that setup the 100-400 was next to it with a bunch of other stuff. great bag.

hi
lowepro specs the 400 aw as having 5.9" internal depth ... measuring my gripped camera, it's a bit in excess of 6". knowing that the lowepro specs aren't always accurate i was hoping it erred on the side of bigger than 6" (inverse 200 specs 6" depth but could not fit my gripped 5d2)
anybody have a gripped xxD, 5D or 7D on their flipside 400? any pictures? thanks!
am choosing between the flipside 400 and the tenba sling medium.
the tenba is sure to fit my cam bodies since i've tried it in-store, but the flipside most probably has the comfort advantage (2 straps), more capacity and 1"+ more internal height

The 400AW comes with a little pad velcroed to the front wall towards the top where you'd normally put the camera so a smaller body doesn't sink too far into the bag. If you remove that pad, the bag will easily hold a gripped camera.

I have my gripped 50D in the Flipside 400AW and it fits fine. As rvdw98 said, just remove the small pad that comes in the bag.

thanks guys, can the gripped body be placed in any orientation? e.g.
body on the bottom pointing up with the lens?

body on the bottom pointing up with the lens?
It will fit, but not comfortably so.
First off, the bag is deeper towards the top where you'd normally put the body. Also, the top is lined with a soft fabric to protect the camera's LCD whereas there's velcro at the bottom to attach the dividers to. And because the bag is not as deep towards the bottom, you will probably feel the body poking in your bag when you carry it.
I would definitely not recommend it.
