Dear Pekka,
This E-mail is long overdue…
Thank you, for introducing me to the Canon G1. After 30 plus years in and out of photography using friendly old dinosaurs like screw thread Leicas and Nikon Fs, I am now shooting more pictures, printing more pictures, and having more fun than ever before in this hobby, with my G1. All those years of futile battling with dust in the darkroom, having a vague smell of fixer in the basement, and working so hard for so meager an output are over.
I hope that Canon appreciates just how much you have meant to the G1! I’ve seen many posts (and have written a few) pointing people to your gallery to allay any fears about the G1’s capabilities. (Note: If any Canon corporate types are monitoring… send Pekka a few L series lenses to play with. It is the least you can do.)
I’m afraid I won’t be following you into the world of the D-30, as the cost of the body plus lenses is more than I can justify (or get away with) at this point. But a G2 is on order as I write this.
