Hello there guys. I've got a question regarding the Domke Ruggedwear range (as per Thread Title), or more specifically, the F-3x and the F-3x Ruggedwear.

As I have yet to own even A Domke bag, I can therefore only refer to pictures floating around in Cyberspace. And because of that, the only difference I can see between the normal F-3x and the Ruggedwear version is that the Ruggedwear version comes looking worn and used (that's the whole point of Ruggedwear isn't it?) and that its not machine washable. Also they have different colour schemes.

Are there any other differences? I honestly can't see the point and logic to pay quite a bit more for a used look. Granted, better looks usually have heftier price tags but US$40? That's a bit much isn't it? Unless there's a difference I have overlooked, and thus, am looking for that X-factor that warrants the premium.

Thanks in advance guys!

The Ruggedwear is a wax-impregnated canvas so the fabric is truly waterproof. If you are familiar with Barbour coats, it's basically the same material as they use. The regular Domke bags are canvas that hasn't been so treated - they're quite water-resistant, not least because the canvas will swell up and prevent moisture from getting through easily, but the Ruggedwear cloth will withstand even more severe wetting.
