Well, I have been a member here for 18 months now and browse regular.

I am simply amazed at the photos that you see on here. From the models to the landscapes, I sit in ore (sp) at the quality of your photos and wonder if I should just throw my kit away.

I honestly feel I have no chance of taking the quality photos I see on here and wonder if I am out of my depth when it comes to photography.

Having spent 1000s on the equipment I am soon realising its the person behind the camera and in front of it that make the shot, not the equipment itself.

We done all those on here who take these photos and share. I am amazed at your talents.

Believe me, you're not the only one who feels in awe of what you see here on POTN.

We all have our "heros" or those whose work we admire and I'm sure most of the folks who do populate POTN are here for the same reasons as you: To Learn and To Grow.

Stick around, put your feet up and ask questions. The ability to ask and get answers is what truly makes POTN special (IMO.)

Welcome!! :D

Thanks for the quick reply. It makes me feel a whole lot better when I hear I am not alone. I reckon it will be 5 years before I am able to post a photo up which I have taken.

I think its time to plunge myself deep into these forums and take it all in.

I'm a huge nobody newbie and I still post photos. I don't have anything to lose by doing so, and if someone takes the time to provide feedback, then I learn a thing or two and know where I need to improve. I know my photos definitely don't measure up to a lot of the photos posted on here, but it isn't a contest. ;) The more you read, post, practice, etc. the more you learn.

You mean 'sit in awe' - and it's very easy to check spelling before you post.

I apologise for my spelling, looks like it may be as bad as my photography. Randi is right, 38 mins of my first post and I am getting feedback on my spelling :)

Hahaha way to take things in stride. :) 'Tis the nature with online forums... take the good with the bad!

Agreed! One of the best aviation photographers was the first to reply to this thread. Jay's work is amazing. Of course he didn't start taking good pics until he finally got the 500mm.;)

It's hard to post an image when others are so much better. It's true. But don't be discouraged. We are always more critical of our own work than others, in reality. I tell my boys all the time, "If you don't practice your piano, you won't be able to play your pieces the way you think they should sound. Just like chess. You can't expect to win when you haven't played much." So, the secret is to go out there and learn and shoot and learn some more and shoot some more. I still go to seminars and tutor new photographers. It's all a matter of getting out there. Good luck and really, be brave!

There is no need to appologise for spelling. This is a site about photography not spelling. I am sure everybody understood what you meant.

Same here. Some stuff people post just blows me away. Great inspiration and great talent here on POTN! :)

I have spent 3 days solid, on here now and I have absolutely no idea on how people get such clarity in their photos, the detail is way in front of anything I can take, somethings missing :(.

Im beginning to think I will never get anywhere near. Glad I am not on my own though.
