Focus Lock with G11...need help.

I am not sure I understand the instructions that came with my manual for focus lock. I want to zoom to something, focus lock it, then recompose.

But the manual says to keep the shutter button half pressed while recomposing. How can this be done? Seems tricky to change the zoom while keeping the shutter half pressed.

You are not supposed to zoom in or out...just recompose the composition. You lock it on a subject and then move around, not zoom.

Still cameras don't backfocus, so you won't be able to change your focal length of distance from the subject without losing focus.
