buying some Hoya Pro 1 UV's and see now that there is a "digital" version.......anyone know what the difference is?
i don't use them for protection, but like to have them when i'm in an area where i will get sea spray on the lens.

They are only a bit thinner. Even on my 20D and 10D I have never used so-called, digital filters and have never had an issue.

Digital filters are in the same class as digital speakers. They are both equally analog.

I was told the digital ones are thinner, though... wouldn't this affect the characteristics of the light as it passes through it? Thinner would be better, no?
