Mama & Baby duck in the pond... they were too cute for words! The little Baby was copying everything Mama did. A tough shoot though - the light was really harsh, a lot of reflected light from the water, and Mama was pretty white for a Mallard. But these turned out OK... it was just too sweet to pass up.

Great job on a difficult shoot, LP. The last two are precious... would like to see them side by side. I love the Salton Sea heat and haze pics. Very nice indeed...

Kids have to learn from someone, for ducks, mum seems a good bet (maybe a lesson in those pictures for humans.....)

Cute shots! I guess I've never seen the underside of a duck's bill before. I didn't know they were grooved like that.

Very nice crisp pics LP. Looks like you've been out to the Santee again?

On the ID, I'm not second guessing you, but might that be a Gadwall? From the look of #1, I don't see the green wingpatch. You would have a better idea having been there. I did see a pair there a while ago.
