I wandered around the St. Paul's and Bank area of the city on Saturday night playing around with creating a few orbs.
1. In the narrow side passageways.

2. Inspecting the Millenium Bridge

3. Enjoying the fountains at St. Paul's

4. St. Paul's front door.

5. The Bank of England

I used some remote flashes in 1 and 4, the orbs are made with just a bundle of LED's at the end of some speaker wire. Should have some different coloured ones this week.

Nice work Kev, did you end up adding any weight to the end?

hehe, yea. I taped 2 £1 coins to the end ;)
It could actually use more weight than that to be honest. The twisting of the flat speaker wire at the point you spin from throws things off a little bit.

I'm sure if you hang around until the sun comes up, they go into hiding, you should be safe to get away from it, thats how I lost mine last weekend, (ah... yours looks very much like the one I managed to evade last week when we met)

Cheers! Will probably be out again after easter if you're interested? I have some more LED's arriving tonight, so will have a few more colours next time.

Thanks Chris! I was actually going for "me stalking the orbs" feel, but close enough :)

Cheers Cosha! That's sort of the feel I was going for with a few of them, even called them shy in the gallery descriptions (http://www.evilkitchen.ca/?page_id=1&g2_itemId=10684) :)
Making the orbs is really easy! There's a video that Swaffs made of me spinning one a couple of weeks ago here (http://vimeo.com/10333241). Beyond that, if you're shooting them yourself like I was for a few of these, you just need a remote timer, a long enough exposure to get yourself into position and still make the orb, or be really fast and get set up in the 10 second timer window :)
It is much easier to shoot these with a friend who can trigger your camera though. Also, it can be a bit nerve wracking walking so far away from your gear in the middle of the night in London ;)

Here's a couple more:
6. The buildings have quite a lean to them, but I like the foreground blue lights.

7. Right by St. Paul's, a little blown out I'm afraid.
