Well, the weather here in the North East is breaking and the boys played on a nice chilly day. Rather chilly if you ask me.
Let me know what you think I can improve on. Sunlight was harsh as it was bright chilly morning. Had fun and the boys are learning the game.
All shot with the Sigma 70-200mm 2.8 at f2.8. Exif on flickr page.

Nice shots. I would crop #5 tighter.
I would also try to keep the sun either directly behind, or in front of the player. The Sun shinning from the side creates harsh shadows on the faces.

Problem shooting the little guys is they don't change sides at the half. They go in the same direction the entire game. And shooting them from the side is very difficult as they tend to run straight ahead when they get the ball. That's why there are shadows there.
I agree on the crop on the #5. I was hoping the extra space would help illustrate the fact that he is diving for the ball. Guess it does not work too well. Will crop it tighter when I print it for his parents.

They all have hands. It was quite cold that morning.;) Their hands are inside gloves or their sweatshirt sleeves.
That is too funny!

I think you caught some great determination. These little guys are all about the game and it shows in their faces. Great fun for sure.
I can appreciate the lighting problems. You shoot what your are given. These look pretty good to me. Some times there just isn't anything you can do about shadows.

Thanks Titus213. Light was harsh that morning and I knew the shadows would be troublesome, but I took what I had. A few years ago I never would have gotten what I did.
Great help on the forum and lots of advice here.
And you are right, these little guys know what is going on and play very hard. And they know the score. They know when they are losing and they know when they are winning. That is one reason why I don't understand why every game at this level has to end in a "tie" and no standings are kept. Changing times I guess.......
