This really wasn't shot for any great reason except that I thought it may serve as a reminder to maintain you tires and vehicle. I had checked the tires in the morning before this happened. I had dirven about 750 miles the day it blew. This tire "let go" while I was doing about 80 miles per hour. My truck acted as though is was no big deal, no sudden lane changes, it kept going straight (the tire was on the left front). I was driving a GMC 3/4 ton crew cab pickup and it handled the problem just great.

Man, lucky you kept it under control. 2nd bad blowout I've seen on this forum this month.
Glad you're ok!

where did you buy that tyre from?! i don't know much about 4x4's but if it were a street tyre, that'd be a defective tyre!

the tire came from "Big O".................they did a 100% replacement today........it had almost 30,000 miles on it and they do NOT pro rate. That's pretty strange for todays world. As long as you are the original owner they will replace at no charge.

Glad no body got hurt. As a truck driver, you hear lots of horror stories about tire's blowing out. And congrats on the complete replacement. That is unusual!
