I found my dad's old G5 and I wanted to add it to my kit. I charged up the battery and turned it on. Seems to work fine. But, it didn't have a card in it. I found a CF card and popped it in, hoping it would be smooth sailing, but it would not turn on! However, If I remove the card, alls fine and dandy. I also tried it with another CF card and the same thing happened. What can I do to fix it?

Sorry no one has chimed in to help.
1. Since you tried two cards with the same result this implies it's not the cards. I suggest you still try a third card just in case.
2. Does it fire a take a pic even when you don't have the card installed? Take care with this, since you need to set a menu item to allow you to shoot w/o a card.
3. Take a look at the card slot. Look very closely to make sure the pins aren't crushed.
Not much help, I know, but beyond this, I can't think of any other suggestions. Good luck with this, as the G5 is a sweet little camera.
