Hoe does one shut off the flash on the 350D. the book doesnt tell and i cant seem to figure it out. I admit, I havent broken any time spending records on this but i was just curious... if I want ted to take a shot in the dark but wanted the flash to not fire, how would i do this without mounting a speeedlite and shutting it off? Thanks!

You'll have to shoot in one of the "creative" modes - Av, Tv, P, or M. Also, the "no flash" (symbol of a lightning bolt with a slash through it) will disable the auto-popup flash. If you manually pop the flash up using the flash button, it will fire regardless of shooting conditions.

Along the same lines. I just got my XT about a week ago. I was trying to find / still trying to find out how to change the flash output power. My G3 had a function button and it was in the menu there.

You need to adjust FEC (Focus Exposure Compensation). I dont have XT but I am quite sure xt has this function.

hit the menu button, go to the #2 camera menu, and it's the second item on the list. click set and then adjust it to your liking. dunno if you have to click set again to comfirm it. doing this from memory. :)
