I plan to take some pictures of my baby in the garage - because of large space and less junks. I have a thick rubber foam that I can put on the floor and then cover it with a white bedsheet. My problem is with the background. Although the garage has a white color background, there is a cement step that is not painted - adjacent to the floor. This cement step will show up in the picture - most likely. I want to put a drape (i.e. white colored shower drape in cloth) in the background. Can anyone give me a suggestion/recommendation how I can go about this? Thank you.

If you're shooting down, I don't see where you need it. If you're shooting parallel to the floor, you're going to have a problem getting low enough. I'd put the baby on a table, & use a tripod with the lens set a bit wide so you can concentrate on the baby.
If he/she isn't old enough to sit up, I'd roll a pillow lengthwise, put a blanket over it, & lay the baby with it's head & shoulders on the rolled pillow. Foam pillows are a PITA, so I'd avoid them.

To answer the original question, you're in a garage, so why not hang it from the ceiling?

Hello,

Can you detail your lighting source? Unless you are lighting the white sheet/shower curtain it will show up as grey due to light fall off.
;) :) :D
Good shooting to you !!

P. S. Many years ago I did a lot of kidnapping (an old child photographers term)
I have a few suggestions for you, but first I need to know your lighting set up.
