your pictures are beautiful crisp and clear damian
and I like the sounds of what you say 'loving it by night'
nice that you enjoy it
must be lit up different from other buildings around.
it seems very 'modern'
a lot of art galleries go that way,
but what is modern now will be old fashioned soon enough
yet some designs never blend, no matter how long they exist
I wonder does this, in that particular area ?

Thanks Marie. The truth is - I love the Lowry at night - it is OK during the day. Unfortunately I don't hang round Salford at night too often!
I think Martin will need hosing down to be honest. Excited isn't a big enough word.

well, as martins birthday will be over when you get back into work on monday you both should be well hosed down by then.
and with pictures proof of the wild sticky faced party??
: )

They light it with blues and reds at night - makes it stand out from the rest of the buildings there or there abouts.
The area where the Lowry is situated was just waste land until about 5/10 years ago. Now lots of modern housing has just sprung up on the canal side. The Lowry blends in to it - especially when you see what is directly opposite:

Well worth a visit if you ever get to Manchester - and I'll buy you a Guinness!

Very nice. Go back and shoot the same monolithic structures AGAIN, but on a nicer day with BLUE skies. Very nice composition.

thanks damian,
the good news ?
that building you are showing now (opposite the lowry building ) its beautiful
and very well photographed .
and it certainly does make a statement .
the other one most def. must look very good close by
I thought that the lowry building, which you showed initially was in liverpool, not manchester !
I thought lowry was a liverpudlian,
he is/was......
isn't/wasn't he ???
(oh go back to sleep marie zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
soon, soon )
and the bad news ?
thank you for the offer of a guinness
their (guinness) hq are just up the road from me, in Dublin : )
I was all through the whole works
saw everything, how nearly everything is done. interesting place.
a lot of people would like to visit I guess : )
I was even up on the roof !
(but they keep their secrets (brewing) which no one is allowed know about : )
to get back to the 'bad' news
I don't 'drink' at all and never did ,but thats not to say I don't love water, or lemon and lime (mixed )
and coke / cola etc etc etc,
no end to all the lovely tastes around
( do I hear a yawn all over ???? : )
no worries it don't bother me , never did )
: )))))))))

DAMIAN
Your photos are great -- although I agree with the earlier recommendation that a sunny day might be nice, there having been so few posts of wonderful sunlight subjects lately.
Or maybe that is because I bask in the sun for an hour each day while cross-country skiing on nearby trails. Here in Eastern Canada it is almost warm enough to pack the G2. Take today, when I caught a squirrel poking it head out of bird feeder (plastic jar with a window cut into one side). 6 ft above the ground.

I think he was a Mancunian - in fact I am certain. Not all great people are from Liverpool - just most of them.
As for the Guinness - well it only tastes right in Dublin and Liverpool anyway.

I will certainly be going back when it is sunny. Only problem is - this is Manchester and it is rarely sunny! :o)
