I need to order a couple of Sigma Lenses for work as well as a new video camera. My natural inclination would be to order from B&H however we are prohibited from doing so through my company.
Which vendor would you recommend as a reputable and reliable company? My next thought would be Adorama, but I would appreciate any feedback.

Why prohibited from B&H?! ???
Its funny how much people order from them...at least I can speak for myself and say I dunno who to trust when they are not an option.

Adorama (http://www.adorama.com/)seems to be a close secondto B&H in popularity on this forum. Although I have never used them, I always buy from B&H

I have bought from Adorama a few times, great customer service and great pricing too (well if you're in US, Canada - not so much as you have to pay taxes on top of that)...

B&H is awesome if you know what you are looking for.

I work for a state institution and B&H is on our disallowed vendor list for something to do with how sales tax is handled.

Samy's, Adorama, Beach Camera, there's about 2-3 others I can't remember the names of but those are big ones besides B&H that have great service.

Calumet is also good. I worked for a state agency and we had no problem with them as a vendor.

Can't go wrong with Adorama, they are pretty much in line with B&H in prices and customer service. My advice, give them a call and place your order if you can. Many times, you can negotiate some form of a discount and free shipping. I bought a Sigma 24-70 from them and the guy knocked off $22 off the price and gave me free shipping without me asking for it. Minor discounts, but whatever helps.
If your worried about them, it's where Joe McNally gets all his gear (or so he claims!).

Ever since B&H screwed up an order of mine and refused to make it right, I've gone with Adorama for everything. They have free shipping on a lot of stuff which is a big plus.

You are probably prohibited from ordering from them because you don't pay sales tax when ordering from out of state. That's part of the reason why I use them, sales tax on an camera body or lens really adds up and if I can avoid it by ordering from a company outside of california, I don't pay tax.

Since you are not shopping with your own money I would recommend helping out a smaller, local shop. I have one that I like (and use when I can afford to) in the triangle, but if Raleigh is too far then I don't have a recommendation for your your way.

Adorama is now my first choice over B&H. I never had a problem with B&H but Helen and Samuel at Adorama really did more for me than I expected. They saved me money rather than just thinking of their profit.
My accountant doesn't like either because they don't collect CT sales tax, and he has to figure out my "use tax". Now that I think about it, there's not much he does like.
