hi guys
need some input, going to buy a b-grip and amazon has plenty of cheap options besides canon... wondering about quality...

http://www.amazon.com/s/qid=1269976808/ref=sr_pg_2?ie=UTF8&sort=-price&keywords=power%20grip%20for%20canon%2050d&bbn=172282&rh=n%3A172282%2Cn%3A!493964%2Ck%3Apower%20grip%20f or%20canon%2050d&page=2

thanks in advance

Basically, I would be concerned about build quality. Most third party battery grips that I have seen have not been a pure 100% fit to the camera body. It kinda fit good but that will do. What do you expect when you compare the original Canon vs a copy? Also, material composition aren't exactly identical. So there is a compromise of paying more for the real McCoy or paying less for a reasonable copy. It's your decision, your acceptance of the build quality of a copy.

I bought aftermarket for my XSi and I'm very happy with mine. The only thing wrong with mine is the Bat. Power indicater shows full all the time but thats an easy work around.EBay seller jiakgong is where I get alot of things and they have what you need for $45 without the adjustment wheel or $55 with the wheel and an IR controller.

Bought mine here...........

I consider it very well made and completely functional. The plastic body has a little bit of a grain to it which pretty much matches the non slip grain in the camera body.

You don't need two batteries to use a grip. Conversely, you don't need a grip to have two batteries. But you should have two (at least) batteries so you don't run out of charge in mid-session.

I've been using Phottix battery grips for both my 20D and 50D for a few years now.. Well made and never had a problem..
