I think you did a great job. Your bee is much more clear than mine. See "Busy Bee" and "Flight of the Bumble Bee" posted here. I also used the kit lens. As a newbie, I can't afford to buy several specialty lenses, I use what I have. The kit lens is good but I do wish for a better telephoto in the future. Again, great job.

I think the kit lens gets a lot of undeserved bad press...most of my best macro shots are the kit lens on extension tubes.(although i'm leaning more towards the 50mm on the tubes nowadays tho)..... as this shot more than proves the kit lens is capable of some very nice results........... It's been said a million times that its not the equipment that takes the photo.....
Excellent capture, sharp as a pin where it needs to be and the bokeh is VERY nice.. the kit lens is in your bag why not use it..... (its a fantastic carry around lens, lightweight with a decent zoom range to take in many different subjects, I usually stick it on when i'm out walking the dog, and not really planning on taking pictures of any specific subject) I'd rather have the camera with the kit lens than no camera at all...... (although i've always got the extension tubes in my pocket) ;)

(it wasn't a luck shot becasue out of the 6 shots i got of this little guy 4 were keepers) this is totally untouched in ps except to resize it.........
