Hey everyone.
I just bought the new sigma 17-70 and I'm looking to get a polarizer for it. Seems like everyone here highly recommends B+W. What are some other options? How do Tiffen and Hoya compare to the B+W? Is the B+W really worth the price -its about 2x as much as the tiffen and hoya?
Thanks

Which B+W? But all three are just fine. Just make sure it's a circular polarizer.

The MRC and HMC filters are the high end filters. They have better coatings and coatings on both sides I believe.

Yeah - get B+W MRC, Hoya S-HMC or HD, Heliopan SH-PMC, or don't get a filter.

so what would you all recommend for a CP for under $70?
Jon: Are the filters that much better then one for around $70? Is there a noticeable difference in picture quality?

Under best conditions, you won't see a difference. If you're using a longer lens, especially, or if there are metallic specular reflections or the original light sources in (or near) your scene you're quite likely to get flare and loss of contrast. Unfortunately, the best conditions are rarely what we see.
