I saw this tree in my travels and was impressed by it's beauty. It is in Laconia, NH. I told a co-worker about it and she told me that, "it's the oldest and largest tree in the State" and it's called, "the championship oak." I believe it's a white oak but I'm no expert. It was not too long ago that NH was mostly farm land (dairy) so there is very few old growth trees.

I want to get a much better picture of it than what I have posted here. So, any comments, criticisms and advice would be most welcome. The pond lies to the left of the tree and in order to get it in the foreground I am going to have to take to the water. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Beautiful tree, Paul. Looks like a major feat just to get it all in the frame!

I think you're right about getting the pond in the shot, if you can.

What your images needs most is sharper detail. Looks like your aperture was F/4.0? Something that massive needs a lotta DOF - F/8 or F/16 if you can get it. That usually requires plenty of light. Even though it's not moving, you might need a tripod depending on the ambient light.

Tupe thank you for the advice I will try that. You are right I shot those around F3.5 F4.0 I will put your advice to the test. Again, thank you.
