I was out walking at Petrie Island near my home when I heard a noise , I stopped and there not 5 feet away was this Woodpecker just hammering this tree oblivious to everything around him , hope you all enjoy C & C welcome, these are not cropped at all I even had to back off the zoom to try and fit him into frame

Great capture. I've only been to Petrie twice, the second time last Sunday when I first met Dancad. It's really a great place for shots. You fellows should visit my end of town. Mud Lake (in Brittania) and Bruce Pit & Jack Pine Trail near my place in Nepean are great too.

Canon Rules!
Would realy enjoy getting together with you guys. I'm in Cumberland and just accross the ferry is Les Marais des Grenouilletes. The only place in town where Least Bitterns breed....need a shot of this elusive bird!
Salut Dan!

I have a similar pic (much inferior to these) of a downy hammering on the cedar siding of my house. The light was poor, and when I tried a flash he startled, realized I was quite close, and flew off.

These little birds are quite numerous here in Arkansas U.S.A. and i've tried many times to get some decent shots but haven't succeeded so far. Nice shots. Thanks for sharing.

Nice shots -- seem a little soft, but even so really nice.

your right they are a bit soft 90% of the pics I take are soft to get the detail I manage to get I have to be right on top of the bird like 6 feet or less away I blame the 3.2 mp camera I have , but its teaching me how to be really sneaky lol , thanx for the kind words
