I've got some big smudges on my uv filter that are noticeable in my photos. I was just wondering if it is ok to clean the filter with a regular glass cleaner or should I get a special cleaner?

Thanks

I think windex is amonia base. I would use a lens cleaning solution or distilll isopropanol alcohol and lint free lens tissue or try a lens microfiber cloth

distilll isopropanol alcohol NOT rubbing alcohol! It has oils in it.

Pec sells a fluid called 'eclipse' which, with a PecPad, works very well. Start in the center and spiral outward. Change areas of pad with each pass. Eclipse is a pure Methanol, non-residue fluid. A couple drops ON THE PAD, then proceed.
