With a ton of fence for the on campus field, and not really any place in foul territory to shoot from either.. shooting this game through the fence only... made for a limited amount of available shots... It was still good to just get back into outdoor game mode after seeing everyone posting baseball and softball. Shot with the 70-200 with the hood on of course, with the hood on up on the fence.

I don't know if I'll get a chance to shoot any of them again, with the community college and high school here starting next week but we'll see. Much better angles/availability on the fields here than on Minnesota-Duluth's campus.

1. I know.. no eyes

2. One of the few non hitting/pitching shots I even attempted because of the fence.

4. This girl (a junior now) hit her first two career home runs.. this is the second.. the fence kind of killed the shot

Heavy crops?

Framing and timing look good.

White balance looks way too warm on my monitor.

#4 is the only crop that's a real long one.. any softness is from shooting through the fence. WB I'll have to look at next game and compare.. should have just left it in auto with the sun coming and going...

Interested in hearing other comments about the WB temp.. the jerseys might be a little blown out... ISO was all over the board as I look at EXIF.. I was at 400, 500, 640 and 800 on different shots.. (800 on photo 3)

Hope these are OK since you don't have "Image Editing OK"

On the first one I used "Auto Color" in Picasa.

On the second, I used the "Neutral Color Picker" and selected her white helmet.

The first 'fix' makes it look really blue.. the second isn't bad.. won't be until at least Tuesday (weather willing) before I shoot anymore softball again. After seeing the 2nd one I'm starting to wonder if I was still in my indoor sports "editing" mindset and added that slight saturation that I did with most basketball shots, without thinking about otherwise since it got to be automatic in my editing process.

I agree about the first one looking too blue... especially where the pants were already over-exposed and clipping whites.

But the skin tone looks MUCH better IMHO... she looks sunburned in your original.

If you over-boosted the saturation, that would explain it... not much green yet in the grass, not much blue to boost (no sky), but the red in the skin exploded when you cranked up the sat.
