A fellow 'tog that I know did a TFCD shoot with an MM model. When the shoot was done, she demanded payment for her time. Apparently she was either so new than she didn't understand the TFCD concept, or maybe she was just a nut.

My question is this: Do any of you make the model sign a contract in advance of the shoot explaining that it's TFCD, and that there will not be any money involved? If so, what exactly does your contract say?

Just to be clear, I'm not talking about a model release that allows you permission to use the images.

My model release contains the compensation language. It specifies who pays who, or what is provided to each party. I always meet with models before the shoot to discuss the shoot concept and compensation. I don't ever leave that open to interpretation.

When I contact new model, almost the first thing I mention is that the shoot is going to be TFCD. I store all my email exchange with the model so I have some written proof. Still my model release says that model is going to get x amount of jpegs, not money. Many times models dont understand what is the difference between TFP and TFCD but that is not really my problem ;)

Yes, I use an agreement for test photo shoots that identifies the model, includes a model release, copyright ownership confirmation, and license rights and images given to the model. The contract is signed before we take the first picture. I do not even schedule a test photo shoot until I review all terms of the shoot with a potential model in person-this eliminates flakes and mistunderstandings.
