What is the best way to do a head or eye transplant from one photo to another in Photoshop?
Say you have a few group photos and you have a few people with their eyes closed in some of them, how can I copy their head with their eyes open to the other picture without it looking totally fake?
Like these two pics, the guy on the far right & the groom. Between the two shots I am sure I can get something that looks good, but I am unsure how to do this.
Thanks for your help.

I'm the first to admit that my photoshop skills aren't all that great but I took a run at this anyway. I did a selection on the whole head in the image with the man on the right where he had his eyes open. I then pasted this into the other image and move the layer around to get it lined up relatively close.

use the selection tool and select a small area around the open eyes, drag them onto the photo where the eyes are closed. Make that layer 50% and line up the open eyes with over the closed so it looks right, make the layer back to 100%, select the eraser with a VERY soft edge and erase away the around the eyes to blend the top little piece with the photo underneith, then flatten and save your image... if you save as instead of just save, you'll still have your original file too incase you notice something that doesn't look quite right later.

I do something similar, but a bit different. I placed a selection around the entire head and dragged it over to the pic with the closed eyes. Normally, I would rotate and size the new layer to match up with the existing picture, but in this case, that wasn't necessary. I then select the clone stamp tool, size my brush appropriately, set my source point on the "floating head" layer at the corner of the eye, then select the background layer and starting in the same corner of the closed eye paint the open eye over it. I just did it with these pictures. It took all of 2 minutes and it looked great.

If the lighting is the same in both pictures, I just make a selection with the lasso tool, feather the selection with 3-5 pixels and cut it out and place it on top of the picture I want to move it on... use a soft brush to erase some areas that might need to be removed. I replaced a whole head on one bride and it's impossible to see it was not the original image. :D

I just did this at a family gathering too. My main difference was instead of actually erasing, I used a layer mask. That way I can fade into skin tones and paint back what I erase if need be. Sometimes you need to transfer a little more than just the eyes to make the expression natural.
