Is this front focusing?

I have noticed some softness from my new 50 1.8.

So I decided to do the focus test. I follow the directions, i think.:)

20D ISO 100 1/25 f1.8

Did one at f4.0 1/5th

Both were from tripod with mirror lockup.

So I see front focusing at both aperatures, anyone else see this?

Yes, it's front focusing quite badly. Compare with my 50mm F1.8 (also stuffed) here (http://www.mrwild.co.nz/ExperimentalGallery/Tests/FocusTests/Set2/index.html).

The solution suggested to me by the Canon tech who calibrated it was "buy the 50mm F1.4, the USM is a lot more accurate".

Anyone been able to get one of these fixed that had AF issues?
