Was wondering if anybody has purchased a full length tripod they have been happy with for their smaller Canon digicam. I just purchased an A40 and am looking for a decent tripod...in keeping with the level of camera..not low end/not high end. Can anybody recommend a solid mid-level full length tripod?
Thanks in advance,
George

If you do a search at this site for "tripods" you will encounter several previous discussions and recommendations. One of the issues that you need to decide is whether you can use a heavy, sturdy tripod or need a light weight one for back-packing or air travel. (There is a trade-off between weight and sturdiness.) For lignt weight, I've used a Velbon Maxi 343E tripod, which weighs only 2 pounds. It's a bit flimsy and fell apart on one occasion when I stressed it, but the Velbon people repaired it free of charge (great service). If you can afford it, you might think about a heavy duty tripod for normal work and a light weight one for travel.

i bought a manfrotto/bogen mini tripod for about 25 dollars, and it is worth every penny. while it cant do what the big ones can, it does allow you to make images impossible without one!
i use a big tripod when the occasion calls for it.

Thanks for your responses. I did check the archive prior to posting...not much specific to smaller digicam tripods..why I posted....don't need a massive tripod. Horses for courses..does make sense to have two different tripods..maybe three..a table top tripod as well. A lightweight tripod for travel where weight is the priority and a sturdy tripod for yeoman duty.
Thanks again,
George
