Pro Hockey - ECHL - Utah at Victoria

I had the chance to shoot my first professional hockey game last night, an ECHL tilt between our hometown Victoria Salmon Kings and the Utah Grizzlies. After spending the season in a 3200-6400 ISO dungeon I was in lighting heaven! Here are a few. C&C appreciated. All with 50D, 70-200 f2.8, ISO 1600, 1/640 shutter and f3.2 or 3.5. Nice shots Christian, The levels on the shots came out well. Was this a playoff game ?

Jason...not a playoff game per se but given that 2 points separate SKings from missing playoffs, they needed to win (and did not) and they now need to win their last 2 games to secure a spot or else get some help. One team out of 8 will miss playoffs in our conference (weird ECHL set up) and the 2nd thru 8th teams were all within 2-3 points of one another at the start of this week.

That's fine...I'm actually a Blackhawk fan first so I don't want the Hawks to play Detroit in first round! Let's go to conference finals again this year!! Luongo better find his game soon or it won't matter who Vancouver plays, they will be gone in Round 1!

Just spent a week in Vegas with my tiny P&S Canon camera. A 7d is now in my hands awaiting a lens or two.

Your 70-200 seems to be a very sharp lens.

Thanks for looking at my site Gary! Yes the 70-200 is my workhorse but I always think it could be sharper!! I seem to get every 4th-5th shot or so in a sequence where focus is missed but I suspect that is more the camera body and AI Servo function then the lens. Also when viewing RAW files sometimes the focus looks off, but they sharpen up just fine when converting to JPEG.

I'm hoping to find a used ef300 2.8is lens around town if I'm lucky.
