Taken this morning using 3 exposures. I didn't bring my hood so there's a bit of lens flare (the pinkish area at the bridge railing).

Very nice, Gene. Where?

The pink circle (lens flare) in the center of the bridge ruins it for me

Tahquitz Channel is in Palm Springs. The image above was merged and tonemapped using Photomatix. The image below was merged using CS4 then tonemapped in Photomatix. I used the same settings for both in Photomatix. You can see the different results just by what program does the merge.
I usually prefer the merge done in CS4.

Interesting. It seems that CS4 desats it considerably.

Wow! Saw the name in the title and it instantly brought back memories! PS used to be be our spring break spot. Partied hardy up in the canyon. Assume it's all locked off now.
And yes, the pink area is not good. It's a mild pink, but the color is so out of place it distracts - draws the viewer's eyes instantly to it.
Edit: have you considered removing those gang tagging spots?

Nice. I like the Photomatix image more that the PS one.

Images merged using Photomatix, at the same settings, tend to turn out warmer than the merges CS4 does...for me at least. In this case, I did prefer the warmer look.
I've cloned out the flair and part of the paint covering the 'tag art'...a work in progress.

Very nice Gene, I prefer using Photomatix also for merging for the same reason as your great example. I'm not sure why PS desaturates as it does but my results in the past were similar. Even made adjustments in ACR before Tiff with only marginally better results.
Great work on comparisions.
