I tried out the noise reduction setting in the customised function menu the other day. Did an hour long exposure and it took another hour to process the photo. The shot ended up way over exposed but because I could see results straight away I went home to sleep. So my question is, does the noise reduction function make a substantial difference in the quality. Because it takes double the time to process it drains my battery quickly too. Before I go out and shoot again I want to know whether I should just leave it on normal settings.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Ben

You can only set 30" exposures, you have to use bulb mode to do longer.

With the sensor on the XT I can't imagine there would be any saving of an hour long exposure, its just not built for it.

Ah I misunderstood the phrasing :)

Last line: you need to use a shutter releaser or a remote control with the bulb mode.

Gordon:I am not so concern about the battery life. My concern is whether its worth using the noise reduction function in the customised menu. Refer to page 148 in the manual if you want to know what I mean.
