I was just wondering if anyone has this issue as well.... I was just trying it out to fire a couple of my speedlights and they don't seem to work with the G11. They work great with my 7D but I can't seem to get the G11 to get to fire them. Any suggestions? Thanks.

What are you using as the Master on the G11? I'm assuming you have a 580EX II ...

the rf-602s have a separate transmitter that is wireless as opposed to infra red.

I was experimenting with the rf-602 and G11 yesterday. No E-TTL of course, but it triggered the flash, no problem.

did you have to change any settings on the g11's flash menu to get it to work?

I wonder if it will work with the camera set to Manual. I know on my G9 that also sets things to Manual flash (one of the things I dislike about my G9).

My bad. I should learn to read more carefully

No. In fact, the flash menu was grayed out, so I couldn't access it. And, when I pressed the lightning bolt icon on the jog wheel, it wouldn't pull up the on screen flash on/off icons.
I was using a 270EX, which has no on board manual controls. All I could get the rf-602 to do was trigger the flash at full power, which isn't very useful in most situations. If I have a chance today, I will experiment with my 430EX II.

I just tried it with the 430EX II, and it works fine. As with my 270EX set up, the Flash Control menu is grayed out when the RF-602 transmitter is attached to the hotshoe (when the flash is attached to the hotshoe, however, the menu is accessible). I assume that the Flash Control menu is grayed out because the RF-602 is a non-TTL transmitter.

Just a thought but I had this problem with 580exII and also with the canon IR trigger eventually discovered that they were not fully pushed forward in the hotshoe. Wonder if it can be something as simple as this? Hope so

The RF-602 works fine with my G9. Of course, all the RF-602 does is to yell "Fire" at the external flash. The flash power must be set in advance and that setting must be done directly on the external flash. I don't think the 270EX or 430EX have such manual adjustments.
If you like tinkering with wireless external flash, you might try one of Yongnuo's basic flashes. I have the 460-II which works well with the RF-602 wireless, see http://lightdescription.blogspot.com/2010/03/rf-602-wireless-flash-trigger.html
You can also use combinations of neutral density gels (and handkerchiefs!) to get some variation in light from non-adjustable flashes.

The 430EX and 430EX II have manual flash control, but not the 270EX, as you point out. I don't think the 420EX had manual flash control, however.

Ah, thanks. I have the 420EX which does not have manual flash control and I thought the 430EX was a minor upgrade -- but manual control is a major upgrade!

Check the batteries, my transmitter wasn't working yesterday, but was still giving the light when I pushed the button to test it (but the flash wouldn't fire) so I went and bought a new battery for the transmitter and it's working fine now.

This is an old post but if anyone else is having problems using the rf-602's with a G11 then try to go into menu and reset all settings back to default. Then I pulled the battery for 10 seconds, after that I put the battery back in turned on the camera. Everything worked fine after that.

I've been using my G10 with my RF-602 and 430EXII with great results..The G11 should be the same..
The trick is to have your camera and flash set to manual.. You'll have to meter your flash exposure or guestimate with chimping..
BTW,, I've been able to get 1/640th sec flash synch with my G10 and RF-602 trigger/receivers..

I did a search and found this thread, I just bought a yongnuo trigger and 2 receivers for my 7D.
If I push the button on top of the 602TX the flash unit will flash but when I push the shutter button on the camera it don't work.
I can not setup the menu because it tells me I have a non compatible flash on my camera.
Is the 602TX trigger defective
Mod note:The discussion about the Yongnuo 602 and the 7D was moved to a new thread.

The G series must be in single shot mode for the wireless trigger to work. Go to the function settings and change to single shot mode.
