View Full Version : Looking to update my website

A couple years back, I was interested in designing my website from scratch, so I built it from the ground up in Flash CS4 and it worked out pretty well. I hosted it on godaddy so all I had to do was update it through putfile and it would be fresh.

Now, I feel as if it isn't up to par with what a photographer wanting business should have, as it was made with no flash experience at all. I'm looking for a photo website place where I can get a template of some sort and then use my existing subscription to godaddy as I still have 3 years left. All of the places I've found, all want you to get hosted by them.

Any ideas of great site designs for relatively inexpensive prices?

Thanks,
Bryant

If you are wanting improved SEO, you may want to create a non-flash entry point. You may want to create a non-flash site completely. If you want to discuss, send me a pm.

You also have to consider the fact that many people use their phones for web browsing now, and phones and flash don't mix. I wrote my site in css, and then did flash for my portfolio gallery, and am in the process of deciding how I want to write the portfolio and get rid of the flash.

I'm not saying flash is bad per se, a lot of very pretty things can be done with it, but it's worth considering that you may be alienating some of your market by using it.

Yeah, I do hate how flash doesn't work well with mobile devices. I'm not really looking to recode and develop a site again, because it was a very large pain, and took a very large amount of time due to not knowing any coding. Just looking for a simple alternative.

Start a blog and link your site to your blog. Keep people updated with what you're doing and build a readers base - that's one of the cheapest and easiest ways to help SEO.

Try including your website in your signature on POTN, it picks up like crazy.
