rotate avi from portrait to landscape

I have a canon S200 and have taken a series of avi files with it. They were shot in a portrait angle. When I view them on my PC they are shown on their side. i would like to rotate them. You can do this with jpegs simply by highlighting and clicking rotate. However, I cannot find a away to rotate the avi's. Any ideas??

I've done it with virtualdub (http://www.virtualdub.org/), which is free. I don't remember the exact steps, but essentially you open the AVI, select a 90 degree rotation filter, and save the output to a new AVI. Pretty painless.
