Nice Moose and beautiful velvet.

If you return to the same area around the 25 of August, The antlers begin to shed their velvet and the clean antlers will appear. But beware, this means Rutt season and they don't like being bothered during that love time!

Am I a poet?

Love both shots Ron. Perhaps the second one belongs in a workspace thread. Looks like you have some interesting research books. Does the Fireworks book have some good info on taking pics of them?

Thanks Tundra, no the fireworks book is about Macromedia Fireworks software. I write and teach so I tend to gather a lot of research material.

The first picture is fantastic, but the second picture should be hanging on a wall somewhere "geeky". Perhaps a library or computer room?

And since I am the queen of Geekdom, this gives me an idea (Thanks, Marie!). I knit and have been known to buy entire shipments of certain types of yarn. I have more yarn here than I know what to do with. All I need now is a more creative mind! I'll get right on that. ;)

make sure you use the correct wool among that lot you have by
so as it won't rub off the skin when shoes are on
these socks are perfect for winter weather in boots etc

I have a really slack job where I can knit at work all day long (I once made a queen size afghan in 4 days at work -I never took it home). Come september, people would start offering me cash to knit them wool socks for Christmas gifts (socks are easy to knit at work - small, quick, etc). It became mildly stupid (too many people wanted me to make them stuff), so I stopped knitting at work. Now I surf the net all day long looking for photography tips, or knitting/crochet patterns. It's a sad life, but it's my life, and dammit I like it! LOL :D

LOL no the socks are store bought so I assume a machine knitted them. This was taken in the winter and up here you need toasty warm socks:D .

Photo was set up by me using a couple of studio strobes and reflectors but the shutter was tripped by my wife MC. It was done as a lark to post to a challenge titled unsual perspective. Moose and other critters are kept out of the hoose though once a skwerl chewed through the patio screen to gain access to my sunflower seed cache:D .

I bet you are laughing at the idea that the socks got so much attentionhttp://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_lol.gif

they look hand knitted because of the larger stitches then is usual if knitted on machines

HAHAHA! Too funny.

Regarding the POTN socks (what does that stand for? I know I should know, but I don't), I can't say I have a pair of those, but my camera case for my A70 was knit (by me). I used it more of a protective carrying case for when I wanted to throw my camera into my day bag, but it could have easily been modified into a more solid "camera bag". It even had a little compartment on the bottom for spare batteries.

I wish I had a picture to show you, but I gave it away with my A70. :(

potn stands for 'photography- on- the .net' Spirit

I think a knitted bag for camera's may not be too good an idea
as the hairy wool may damage or get into the works of the camera

also it would not protect it from any external 'injuries' http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_eek.gif
you know that, as you say it's only to put in your other bag

but still, the hairy atmosphere (wool) could 'damage' the camera's 'delicates'

I would't dare use wool. I used 100% cotton (no stray hairs, very silky feeling), but I made it more to protect the camera from scratches than to use as a bag to carry the camera in. I often throw my camera into my day bag with my wallet, spare batteries, my mini tripod, keys, cell phone, etc, when I head out for the day.

POTN. I KNEW I should have known what that means... LOL!!! Thanks, Marie.

This brings me to something funny though. Quite often (when I knit at work), people will say "Oh, you're knitting a sweater!" when CLEARLY I would be knitting socks. Then they would say "Oh, wool socks, how lovely!". It's funny how people often think all yarn is made of wool (and not cotton, acrylic, polyester, silk, etc), and if you're knitting you MUST be knitting a sweater. lol

POTN. I KNEW I should have known what that means... LOL!!! Thanks, Marie.

and I should have known when you mentioned 'yarns' in the other thread Spirit, but thought that was the U.S way of saying 'wool' ,
when you said you knitted with yarn.

I throw the neat (ish ) camera bag over and across my shoulder
separate from anything else, resting on my hip;)
also it (camera) is much handier to yank out in a hurry

mostly I use the camera bag instead of any handbag now
with zipped pockets somewhere on me , holding my credit card etc
never carry a mobile
spare batteries (& small lens & memory cards) are in the neat camera bag pocket
tripods (large and small ) are on the shelf in a press in the bedroom

there if I need them:lol:
