I'm having sooooo much fun using my new camera, and I'm trying to take macro shots with the 18-55 kit lens, and nothing else. Can you say "extension tubes"? Anyways, here's a fly that turned out pretty good, I thought. It's cropped and a tiny bit sharpened. Whaddya think?

I agree. I prefer the first one, but I think the focus caught the leaf, as opposed to the fly. Nice effort. :D

I used manual focus on both pics, but I'm still totally trying to learn how to do this, as this is my first SLR. I guess it doesn't help that I don't see so well, huh? LOL! Maybe I should stick to autofocus....

NAH, I think manual focus is the way to go with macro. Just keep shooting and working on it. I intend to do the same, as I'm still trying to get this macro thing down too. ;) One thing I picked up from some of the other members here is to use as small apertures as I can get away with.
